MERRY CHRISTMAS!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

To all our friends and family: Yes, we're still alive! Yes, the 'Thank You' cards are coming - we're slowly working our way through the list. If you haven't received yours yet, note that our next goal is to have them all done by Easter! LOL! A family friend says that "officially" we have a year to get them out. I never dreamed we'd need longer than a week, but life just keeps getting in the way. So, maybe there's something in that official timeline....

We're spending our First Christmas together in Bolton, with Law's family. I'm still getting used to living in England. (Things are sooo weird over here. Don't even get me started on metric conversions for cooking, or that whole left side of the road thing.)

We've been doing a LOT of "decorating". Now for those in America, that doesn't mean putting up pictures and filling vases with flowers. In England the term means DIY knocking down walls, painting, rewiring, ripping up carpets, the works. Hence, why our schedules are so full and crazy. We've still a long way to go, but it's been fun so far. (Even with the constant mess.)

Law has been writing new songs, which I'm very excited about. The plan is to record at least one new album next year. (He has enough good, solid material to fill three folk and one filk CDs, so we're really trying to get that going.) Other folk singers are recording more of Lawrence's songs, too. We'll keep you posted on how that goes....

My first book is finished, an urban fantasy, which I'm currently trying to market. The second one, also fantasy, is started, and I'm also marketing a non-fiction proposal. Busy, busy, wish me luck!

All told, we're happy and our lives are full, what more could you ask for? ....okay, a million dollars, er pounds, would be nice... but other than that, LIFE IS GOOD.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

New Job!

I started a new job Monday: a programming contract through Adecco Engineering and Technical.

I waited a day before posting, because my first day was unusually wonderful. I thought perhaps I should give it 24 hours, to make sure the feeling stuck. It did.

I’m programming (VB.NET/Windows Applications) for a company that manufactures fluid connectors for NASCAR racecars, as well as General Motors. The people are awesome, the company has meaningful goals/values—and my particular job is a dream.

Gotta love it when the planets suddenly align in your favor!

Photos from Buffalo

I kept putting off writing a journal entry, because I didn't know what to say. Nothing like the weather to provide interesting subject matter! LOL!

We survived the worst of the October Snow storm. The power was out for 5 days. We spent the last two nights in a motel because it was just toooooo cold.

Here are some photos:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/debs_pix/

The storm destroyed 90% of the trees in four counties in Western New York. Power lines were pulled down by the cracking / splitting / exploding trees. Over 300,000 homes were without power. After 5 days, there are still 150,000 homes without power, and some of them will have to wait five more days before they are back on the grid.

Gotta love Buffalo!
